At the foot of Mount Fanjing in Jiangkou County, Tongren City, Guizhou Province, the Taiping River flows quietly through a valley where an ancient village unfolds between mountains and water—this is YunShe Village. About 23 kilometers from the southern gate of Mount Fanjing, this traditional settlement, known as China's No.1 Tujia Ethnic Village, is built along the Taiping River and the Longtang River, forming a typical mountain valley settlement pattern.

走进春日的云舍村，山谷间万物舒展，村寨宛如一处隐于山水之间的桃源。青瓦木楼顺山而立，吊脚楼层层错落，木质结构在阳光下泛着温润光泽。村寨中央的神龙潭清澈见底，泉水自地下涌出，四季恒温，沿着溪流缓缓穿村而过。潭边柳影摇曳，桃花点点，水中倒映着树影与游鱼，与水草交织成景，一幅“小桥流水人家”的山地水乡画卷徐徐展开。
In spring, YunShe Village feels like a hidden paradise nestled in the landscape. Blue-tiled wooden houses rise along the slopes, with stilted buildings arranged in layered order, their timber structures glowing softly in the sunlight. At the center of the village, Shenlong Pool lies crystal clear, its spring water emerging from underground, maintaining a constant temperature year-round and flowing gently through the village. Willow branches sway by the water, peach blossoms dot the banks, and reflections of trees and fish mingle with aquatic plants, forming a serene riverside scene.

沿着青石板路前行，桶子屋、小三合院与干栏式建筑相互交织，飞檐挑角间尽显土家传统建筑之美。小桥跨水而立，清流绕村而行，人与自然在空间中彼此嵌合，也构成了云舍村最具辨识度的景观肌理。

Walking along the stone-paved paths, barrel-shaped houses, small courtyard compounds, and stilted wooden structures intertwine, with upturned eaves and layered roofs showcasing the aesthetics of traditional Tujia architecture. Small bridges span the streams, and clear water winds through the village. Here, people and nature are closely interwoven, shaping the village's most distinctive landscape.

这座古村不仅保留了完整的建筑格局，也延续着千年的文化脉络。源于唐代的古法造纸技艺至今仍可见作坊与工序，摆手舞、山歌等传统民俗在节庆与日常中延续流转。迎客拦门酒、民俗歌舞等仪式，让文化不止停留在展示层面，而是在真实生活中不断被使用、被传承。

The village preserves not only its complete architectural layout but also a cultural lineage that stretches back centuries. The ancient papermaking technique dating to the Tang Dynasty is still practiced, with workshops and processes remaining visible today. Folk traditions such as the Baishou Dance and mountain songs continue in both festivals and daily life. Welcoming rituals such as gate-blocking wine ceremonies, along with traditional singing and dancing, ensure that culture is not merely displayed, but lived and passed on.

在保护中发展，云舍村近年来逐步探索出一条融合路径。在坚持传统格局与文化肌理整体保护的基础上，引入民宿、研学旅行、非遗体验与生态旅游等业态。一批传统民居被修缮为特色民宿与文化空间，在保留原有风貌的同时，融入现代生活功能，也带动村民实现就地就业与持续增收。

In recent years, YunShe Village has explored a path that balances preservation and development. While maintaining its traditional layout and cultural fabric, it has introduced homestays, study tours, intangible cultural heritage experiences, and eco-tourism. A number of traditional houses have been restored into boutique accommodations and cultural spaces, preserving their original character while integrating modern functions, and creating opportunities for local employment and steady income growth.

如今的云舍村，青山依旧，流水长在。古老的建筑、鲜活的文化与不断生长的乡村生活，在这里交织成一体。人在村中行，水在脚下流，云在山间停——这座“云中之舍”，正以最自然的方式，讲述着人与山水相依而生的乡村故事。

Today, YunShe Village remains embraced by green mountains and flowing water. Ancient architecture, living traditions, and evolving rural life come together here as one. People walk through the village, water flows at their feet, and clouds linger over the hills—this village among the clouds quietly tells a story of life shaped by the harmony between people and nature.
